The 2026-27 South Australian State Budget was handed down on 4 June 2026.
The State Budget has been handed down and includes the following taxation measures:
Seniors downsizing stamp duty relief
Introduction of full or partial stamp duty relief for eligible downsizers aged 60 and over.
The relief applies to eligible applicants who sell or have sold their eligible principal place of residence and downsize to a replacement property with a smaller land size.
Eligible replacement property types include:
- a newly built home;
- an off‑the‑plan apartment; or
- vacant land on which the applicant intends to build their new principal place of residence.
The relief is available for eligible contracts entered into on or after 25 March 2026.

Home Buyer Ex Gratia Relief for Victim-Survivors of Family, Domestic or Sexual Violence
An ex gratia scheme to support victim-survivors seeking to re-establish housing security through building or purchasing another home.
Depending on their situation and transaction type, eligible applicants may receive relief equivalent to:
- full stamp duty on the purchase of a new or established home, or the purchase of vacant land upon which a home will be constructed
- the first home owner grant (for the purchase or construction of a new home only).
The relief is available for eligible contracts entered into on or after 4 June 2026.
